Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities

The IT Service Desk is looking to hire a Remote Assistant. The remote students will be responsible for providing phone customer and technical computer assistance to clients within the Bates College Community. You will work closely with the IT Service Desk staff to provide a fun and easy going experience. We will provide all needed training to best help our customers.
The hours of operation for this position are M-F 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
Applicants will need to be able to work for a minimum of 10 hours a week.

Qualifications, Requirements, and Responsibilities

Responsibilities


The IT Service Desk Remote Assistant is responsible for working with clients over the phone and will need to work within our ticketing system to document all customer calls. All students must be in the state of Maine to be accepted for this position. Remote Assistant will also be responsible for: Logging into the phone system at the start of every shift Calling customers back when tickets are assigned to assistants Communicating with IT Service Desk staff via Slack to best assist calls

Requirements


An aptitude for providing excellent customer service. Excellent communication skills. Comfortable working with a broad range of technology and software. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and documentation skills. Must have a quiet space to work so you can help customers without distractions. Familiarity with Macintosh and Windows is a plus but not a requirement. The hours of operation for this position are M-F 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Applicants will need to be able to work for a minimum of 10 hours a week.

Reporting


The IT Service Desk Remote Assistant reports directly to the IT Service Desk Student Manager, but will also need to work with other staff members of the IT Service Desk.
