Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities

Student fellows will work with the MLK planning committee to support the planning and facilitating MLK Day events at Bates. MLK Day is an intense, community-wide opportunity to discuss, teach, and reflect on the legacy of civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr. It is a time to examine contemporary human issues through the lens of King’s work and ideas, broadly defined. Student voice and participation is an integral part of the process to make this day possible.

Qualifications, Requirements, and Responsibilities

Responsibilities


- May include attending committee meetings, outreach with faculty, students and into the broader community. - Promotional marketing and social media connected to MLK yearly theme. - Assisting with staffing the weekend events.

Requirements


- Possess good organizational and people skills. - Demonstrate an ability to attend to detail. - Knowledge of social media platforms is encouraged.

Reporting


Works with departments on campus ie; Office Intercultural Education (OIE), Harward Center, Multifaith Chaplaincy, as well as student organizations across campus.
