Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities
Working closely with Production Assistants, the Student Lead Technician is responsible for building and installing scenery / lighting for performances in the Department of Theater & Dance. The Student Lead Technician leads and oversees projects to completion.

Qualifications, Requirements, and Responsibilities
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
1. Supervises and instructs lesser experienced Production Assistants
2. Maintains a safe workplace
3. Maintains a clean shop
4. Assists in teaching safe work habits
5. Reads interprets, and explains design drawings
6. Builds and installs scenery / lighting at the discretion of the Technical Director
7. Other duties as directed
Requirements
The Student Lead Technician must be a current Bates student. Having successfully passed THEA 132 or THEA 232 is a plus.
Reporting
The Student Lead Technician reports to the Technical Director and Faculty Production Manager. They works closely and supervises the Production Assistants.
Working Conditions
The Student Lead Technician must be able to lift 50 lbs. and climb a ladder in excess of 12 feet. They will also frequently use saws, drills, pneumatic tools, paint, wrenches, ladders, cables, theatrical lighting, rigging equipment, and the stage counterweight system.
