Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities
The Ronj Stock Specialist serves as the primary team member tasked with procuring ingredients and other necessary supplies for the Ronj. As part of this job, they work closely with Ronj Managers and Assistant Managers to identify and assess sales trends to forecast stocking needs. They also act as a liaison for the Ronj to the campus community, helping make its presence known and generally promoting it to their peers.

Qualifications, Requirements, and Responsibilities
Responsibilities
Must be willing and able to travel to local shops and supermarkets on a regular basis - at minimum 2-3 times per week - to fulfill the Ronj’s needs. Please note that the Ronj does not have a dedicated vehicle.
Develop and maintain an effective and efficient stock tracking mechanism to identify potential shortages.
Use Square to identify sales trends and make recommendations about stock levels and item prices.
Take pictures of and upload purchase receipts to Bates Engage for reconciliation.
Have weekly shifts, about 2 hours long apiece. The bulk of the time spent in this position will be spent shopping. Those hired can expect to work about 2 to 3 shifts per week, and may be considered “on call” at pre-established times in the event of urgent stock needs.
Must be present at mandatory Ronj meetings and training. General meetings typically occur bimonthly during the academic year. Meetings with Managers and Assistant Managers may be more frequent.
Must respond to emails from Ronj management and Campus Life staff within 24 hours.
Must respond to texts from Ronj management and Campus Life staff within the same day.
Requirements
Must have a willingness to learn new skills and a desire to be part of the Ronj community experience.
Ability to communicate effectively in a customer service setting.
Willing to embrace challenge and critically problem solve to meet Ronj and customer needs.
Past experience in customer service positions, particularly those in food service, is preferred, not required.
Past experience with budget planning, especially through use of spreadsheets and point-of-sale software, is preferred, not required.
Reporting
Ronj Stocking Specialists report to Ronj Managers and Assistant Managers and may also work in coordination with Campus Life professional staff.
Working Conditions
All shifts will be completed either in the Ronj coffeehouse at Ross House, or while shopping off-campus. Training sessions may take place in other campus spaces.
