Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities
To be considered for this position, students MUST qualify for work-study as part of their financial aid package. Due to visa restrictions, international students are unable to work in these positions. There are many opportunities to work off-campus with local non-profit agencies. Community Interns must be able to work with diverse populations including children, adults, the elderly, and non-English speakers. Examples of positions include: community gardening; aspirations work with youth; activities coordination for the elderly; and legal aid assistance.

Qualifications, Requirements, and Responsibilities
Responsibilities
Responsibilities vary, but the Intern may be asked to train and supervise other students and must be able to work independently. Interns report to the Assistant Director at the Harward Center but are supervised by the community agency.
Requirements
Interns must have initiative and the desire to work with diverse populations. They must be able to work effectively with staff at their placement site. They need to be flexible, committed, and responsible. Professional behavior is expected at all times. Interns must have an interest in engaging with the Lewiston-Auburn community.
Reporting
Interns report to the Assistant Director at the Harward Center but are supervised by the community agency.
