Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities

Tour Guide Coordinators are the leaders of the tour guide program in the Office of Admission, and provide direct support in overseeing tour guides. Tour Guide Coordinators assist in the recruitment and training of Tour Guides and provide ongoing monthly training to Tour Guides, organize regularly scheduled tours, and facilitate tour guide participation in panels and other special events. They will also occasionally give tours and serve on panels. Coordinators will work collaboratively and meet regularly with Admission staff and other Tour Guide Coordinators. Tour Guide Coordinators are essential to the work of the Admission Office and are expected to be responsive and assume a leadership role within the team.

Responsibilities


Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Enthusiastically representing Bates College at large in all interactions and opportunities, and serving as an ambassador for the school. Scheduling and managing the daily campus tour schedule including problem solving and addressing daily needs pertaining to guides Assisting in recruitment and the onboarding and ongoing training for all guides Facilitating special events including tour guide participation in panels, events and special tours

Requirements


Requirements: Students must be comfortable with being recorded. Students must have at least one year education as a Bates student by the start of the next academic year Prior experience as a tour guide is preferred

Reporting


This position reports to supervisor Jeremy McFarland, Admission Counselor. Students can also expect to work closely with other Admission staff members in the office as well as other student employees.

Working Conditions


Blended position that will include both online and in-person responsibilities. Responsibilities taking place online require a quiet location away from interruption with strong internet connection.
