Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities

Bates Dining, Conferences and Campus Events is the food service provider for the campus, which includes a catering component. Duties include, but are not limited to gathering equipment, and setting up, serving, and breaking down catered events. Events range from casual receptions, and buffet dinners to formal served events. As catering is event based, shifts vary week to week, offering the successful candidate the flexibility of selecting those shifts which work well for their schedule each week.

This position calls for someone who has an eye for detail, understands customer service and possesses the ability to work independently. The ability to work well with others from diverse backgrounds and exemplary organizational, communication, and time management skills are a must.

Responsibilities


- Performs catering related duties as assigned. This includes but is not limited to - Gathering, delivering equipment - Setting up, serving, and breaking down events - Returning and restocking equipment in Commons - Ensures that proper sanitation and safety standards are maintained. - Promotes and values diversity and practices two-way communication. - Develops an excellent working relationship with other areas of Dining. - Maintains the highest levels of customer service practices at all times.

Requirements


Familiarity with food service, including experience waiting in a restaurant setting or short-order cooking is desirable but not required.

Reporting


Reports to Todd McCollough Works closely with Donald Desrosiers, catering delivery staff, catering waitstaff and other members of the DCCE staff.

Working Conditions


Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time. Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry equipment up to 35 lbs. Events may occur indoors or outdoors.
