Lifeguards are responsible for ensuring the safety of participants utilizing the Tarbell Pool in Merrill Gymnasium. The role is primarily to keep patrons safe while using the pool facility, and require a cool and collected approach with a focus on safety and the client experience. |

Qualifications, Requirements, and Responsibilities
Responsibilities
Duties include but not limited to:
Opening and Closing the pool,
Scanning and patrolling pool areas for safety,
Providing care in the case of an emergency or injury,
Enforcing facility and program policies,
Providing guidance & feedback to participants,
Providing communication to supervisor and co-workers,
Providing daily upkeep and maintenance of pool facilities, and
Being a supportive team player.
Cleaning the pool area and surroundings
Setting up and taking down equipment for different events in the pool facility work events as needed including swim meets, camps, clinics, and lessons,
Be attentive to and report equipment issues to Student Manager and/or supervisor,
Complete training and regularly utilize the following software programs: WhenToWork, OneNote, Connect2, GoogleDocs,
Recording pool chemistry,
Writing shift reports,
Other duties as requested by the Pool supervisor/senior lifeguard.
Requirements
Must hold current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer First Aid,
Previous lifeguard experience preferred,
Flexible schedule; (hours include mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and summer if available [minimum of 5 weekday hours or two shifts per week]),
The ability to lift at least 45 pounds

Reports to: Emma Swanwick, Associate Head Coach Swimming & Diving
Working Conditions
Work environment can be warm and noisy at times.
Physically demanding and requires the ability to: swim, float, and carry load in water;
push, lift and carry heavy load; stand for long-durations.
