Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities

The E-Room Managers are responsible for the upkeep and running of the outdoor equipment room. This includes staffing e-room hours, working with Booqable our online inventory management system, keeping the E-Room tidy, and assisting Bates Outing Club trip leaders in accessing gear for Outing Club trips. The managers will be directly supervised by the Coordinator of Outdoor Education and Programs and will meet regularly with the COEP.

Responsibilities


Responsibilities: Maintain overall organization and cleanliness of the e-room and the area outside of the e-room, including bringing out trash/recycling and sweeping the floors, Assist students, faculty, and staff in renting equipment from the E-room, Maintain a professional atmosphere in the E-room, Utilize online inventory management and rental reservation software to track gear rentals and support an accurate record of equipment, Communicate and encourage uptake of rental software with students, faculty, and staff using the e-room, Make simple gear repairs (repairing zippers, basic sewing, repairing tears in material, minor stove repairs), Instruct renters in basic use of gear (how to set up a tent, fit a backpack, lock into ski bindings), Assist with rentals of alpine ski and snowboard gear, Assist Bates Outing Club trip leaders in reserving gear for BOC trips, E-room will be open M-Th from 5-6:30, 2 managers will be expected to staff the e-room at a time. The 3 managers hired will be expected to work these shifts on a rotating schedule. Meet once a week for 1 hour with Coordinator of Outdoor Education and Programs, Work with COEP to make purchasing decisions for new gear, Uphold a culture of inclusion and equity and work towards making the e-room a welcoming and accessible place for all, Maintain a knowledge of and enforce all policies and procedures including holding renters accountable

Requirements


Ability to work as part of a team, Ability to effectively communicate with students, faculty, and staff, Ability to keep a space organized and tidy, Ability to learn and utilize rental/inventory management software, Basic knowledge of outdoor gear preferred but not required, and Willingness to uphold a professional atmosphere in the E-room and enforce all policies equally

Reports to the Coordinator of Outdoor Education and Programs. Works closely with Bates Outing Club Trip Leaders.
