Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities

The Archives and Special Collections Assistant will assist in the day to day operations of the Edmund S. Muskie Archives and Special Collections Library and provide administrative support to its staff.

This student must pay attention to detail, have strong organizational skills, and be able to multi-task.

Specific responsibilities include, but may not be limited to: 

  • Photocopying 
  • Data entry 
  • Filing/arranging papers

Qualifications, Requirements, and Responsibilities

Responsibilities


Environment: Indoors. Physical requirements: The Assistant will need to climb a stepladder and lift boxes of records and other moderately heavy objects up to 30lbs. Machines and equipment used: Computer, photocopier, document scanner.

Requirements


Education Desired: Completion of high school and some college. Experience: Work in an archives, library or historical setting, and/or cataloging.

Reporting


Reports to: Director of Archives and Special Collections. Coordinates/works closely with: Other archives staff members and researchers.
