Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities

The Bates Sustainability Office is hiring two head farmers for Short Term and the summer season. We are looking for candidates that have strong farming experience, and farm management is preferred. Knowledge of crop rotation, cover cropping, organic farming practices, and vegetable pests a plus. Commitment to a 20 hour work week throughout the summer is required.

The job entails complete oversight of the Bates Garden, which includes:
Raising seedlings in the greenhouse
Transplanting and trellising
Composting
Direct seeding and mulching
Weeding and watering
Organic pest control
Harvesting and washing produce for Dining
