SRSS: Science Resource Stockroom Assistant (S99787)

Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities

The Science Resource Stockroom Assistant will help with washing glassware and reusable supplies in our science buildings and returning them to the stockroom shelves or labs. They will also help with refilling boxes of micropipette tips. The student worker may need to monitor the amount of glassware needing to be washed or tip boxes needing to be filled in two stockrooms in different buildings and split their time worked based on that need.

Qualifications, Requirements, and Responsibilities

Responsibilities


The student worker may need to monitor the amount of glassware needing to be washed or tip boxes needing to be filled in the stockrooms in Carnegie and Dana and split their time worked based on that need. Rarely work in Bonney could be required. Use of disposable nitrile gloves may be required.

Requirements


At least one Biology or Chemistry lab experience is required. Chemical Safety Training may be required although contact with chemicals or use of chemicals is not expected in this job.

Reporting


The Science Resource Stockroom Assistant will work closely with and report to Sonya Locke. They may also interact with other Biology and Chemistry staff and faculty occasionally.

Working Conditions


Most work will be completed within the stockrooms and dishwashing areas of Carnegie Science Hall and Dana Hall. Walking between the buildings may be necessary. Sitting and standing work will be required. No heavy lifting required. Operating a dishwashing machine will be required. All training required in order to perform job duties will be provided by Sonya Locke or other staff when needed.
